Crunch Time
It's Crunch Time
It was crunch time. With less than a week until Dr. Matson’s arrival and much still left to do on the house at Km 8, the manual labor team had their work cut out for them. Every morning at 7 the truck would leave from Km 38, full of wood and workers. Every night it would return after dark, full of tired bodies. The girls also had their hands full throughout the week. It’s a lot of work to cook for 8 hungry men. The biggest addition for Km 8 was the bathroom; complete with toilets that flush and water that runs. It’s really great. The chicos brought the water tank from Km 38 and built a tower for it. They also built 3 tables for the kitchen and dining room. One of the tables was built entirely by Jonathan and Anthony. “This was the first thing I’ve ever made, like actually made, with my own two hands,” Jonathan told me. “I feel so accomplished.” The table is no less than beautiful, a perfect addition to the house at Km 8.
