We finished off VBS this week with no ordinary program. Well, the beginning started out like any other program with singing, but there were a bunch of special treats and surprises in store for the kids and adults alike. The surprises began with Señor Salud’s presentation. He made his normal appearance, flying in with his cape and sunglasses, and then talked about the importance of brushing your teeth. He explained how, how often, and what happens to your teeth if you don’t brush them. But that wasn’t all. Everyone went home with a new toothbrush of their own to practice what they had learned.

The final surprise of the evening was a big bonfire that, even though it had rained all day and the ground was wet, turned out to be a success. We roasted marshmallows, ate popcorn, drank lemonade, and welcomed the Sabbath with each other’s company. The kids kept asking us when we were going to do it again. Soon and very soon.
