Trade School

OUR MISSION

Improve level of health by means of education while providing medical services to the people with greatest need.
Specific objectives:
Establish an agro-industrial trade school with various specialties.
Provide theoretical and practical Bible classes as part of the study program in each study area.

AREAS OF STUDY

  • Agriculture
  • Carpentry
  • Small motor mechanics
  • Bee farming
  • Fish farming
  • Chicken/Egg farming
  • Dairy
  • Bakery
  • Electricity/Electronics

WHY IS A TRADE SCHOOL NEEDED?

The projected areas of study were chosen in order to best complement and serve the needs of jungle villagers.  For example, many jungle towns have rich resources of lumber.  When raw wood is sold as logs, it brings in a minimal price.  However, if villagers use that wood to make furniture, the same weight in wood becomes significantly more valuable.  A second example can be found in fish farming.  The river has long been a source of fishing for food and profit for villagers.  However, in recent years, pollution has significantly affected the fish populations and fish production has dropped drastically.  Thus, the market is open to recieve fish at a good price from the locations of well-administered fisheries.

Touch of Love has developed the areas of agriculture and bee farming over the past year of 2007-2008.  As resources allow expansion, specialties will be added until full completion.  Projected specialties may still change and be adapted to best suit found needs within the population served.

GOALS

  • The students, upon finishing their studies, will return to their towns to establish the programs they have learned.  This will improve the economic levels of their families and communities as the students share their abilities within their towns.
  • With the clinic we will attend medical needs, and through involvement in this aspect provide a new service experience to our students.
  • Establish programs of personal Bible studies within the institution (optional for students).
  • Promote sharing of biblical truths through our students by creation of a permanent training school for volunteer missionaries (optional for students)

RESULTS

Results will be evaluated by theoretical and practical evaluations in each area of study.  Risks include insufficient students; students who do not return to their home towns/villages; insufficient agricultural and industrial production within the school; and insufficient professors.

SUSTAINABILITY

Touch of Love's projects sustainability through the earnings of school industries as well as support through international and national donations.
